Hewlett Packard to stop making PCs
........ maybe, probably?
The computer industry has received a big
shock recently, with the revelation that
Hewlett Packard is to pull out of the market
for PCs. That's a bit like BMW
announcing that it would no longer make
cars.
The picture isn't 100% clear, as HP Chief
Executive Office responded to the news by
saying:
"At no
stage has HP said it is quitting the PC
business. Three options are being
investigated, and whether the company is
spun off, sold or kept in the HP portfolio,
the team in the UK remains committed to
creating and supporting great products and
services."
As to why HP would be
considering such move? Marc Benioff,
Chief Exec of prominent CRM software
provider Salesforce.com said,
"It’s because
smartphones and tablets are taking over. We
recognize that incredible
fact.”
We'll be keeping a keen
eye on the subject at BTP.
