10 Years of Business Computer Services
On the 1st June 2011, Business Technology Partners will officially become 10 years
old. Many of our customers will already be aware of this, as our staff have started
wearing our new uniforms with the “10” logo in the last month or so. In the last
10 years we have grown, at our base in Eastleigh near Southampton, to become one
of the most well-known business computer support companies in Hampshire.
Of course a lot has changed in ten years. Back when we started, the computer services
sector was a very different place. The latest PCs had single core Pentium III 0.6
GHz processors with 20 GB hard disks and 64 MB of RAM - and Windows 98 was still
the PC operating system of choice for many. A new personal computer, at Dixons,
cost around £1,000. The use of the Internet wasn’t what it is today. Google was
a relatively new thing, Facebook was still three years away and Internet connections
were very slow indeed. Email wasn’t in widespread use and it was commonplace, in
many a small business, for only a few members of staff to have their own computers
at their desks. Smartphones and remote connectivity were only talked about as “things
in the future” by technology magazines and on TV news items.
A decade later, and things are very different. The contrast for the modern business
IT user is vast. The constant availability of the Internet is essential for virtually
every company and many of their employees. Internet connections on the go are an
essential business tool. We receive our emails and appointments to our smartphones
and we keep up with our friends and colleagues while we are out and about. Data
storage could commonly have amounted to 10 GB for small companies back when we started.
Nowadays, we commonly place 2,000 GB storage systems even in the smallest of servers.
There is so much technology available to us and we all need to keep up-to-date to
make sure that our companies can make use of modern IT facilities to maintain our
competitive edge.
As a modern IT services company, we at BTP have had to keep pace with all of the
changes. Over the years, our long-standing IT engineers have accrued a vast wealth
of knowledge of all the technology required by a typical small to medium business.
In fact, we put that knowledge to very good use when we meet new clients for the
first time. For all potential new customers, we provide the services of one of our
experienced Microsoft-qualified computer engineers for up to two hours completely
free. So, if you need assistance with any aspect of your business computer systems,
then, whatever it is that you want, it is almost certain that BTP will already have
supplied and installed that IT solution many times. Give us a call on the number
at the top of the page. We’ll be pleased to help.
Here’s to the next 10 years and the changes they will bring.
