BTP up in the clouds

You'll probably hear a lot of talk about cloud computing of late. Without any great conscious effort to "move into cloud computing", just by adapting to clients’ needs over the past ten years, BTP has become quite active "in the cloud".    We provide a wide range of cloud computer services.  In practical terms, cloud computing means clients receiving computer services from a supplier via the use of facilities that are outside of the clients' premises.

For our office in Eastleigh, near Southampton, BTP have been proving remote IT services to clients for years and, looking down our client list, and the computer services that they make use of, there are very few of our clients who do not use BTP remote computer services of some kind. So it's not a new or difficult concept.  It's likely that all businesses use some form of "cloud" resource.

The list of cloud computing services BTP provides includes: remote backup, spam filtering, data storage, hosted email services, database hosting, custom software services and remote dial in support.  There are even a number of clients for whom we host their entire IT system allowing them the freedom to access their IT resources from anywhere that they can achieve an Internet connection.  All of their servers are based at BTP’s head office and staff members access those servers from their own office, at client office or from home. Now that is real cloud computing.
